Nora's entry into Michaela's book

Looking for resolution.........I thought about conflict resolution for a long time before deciding what to sketch.  My pages connect to the issue of poaching in Tanzania and my experience finding a recently shot elephant, not yet dead, outside my campsite in Selous National Park. A tragic event and a massive issue for Tanzania and the world right now.  Luckily, it is being addressed at a national and global level more and more.

Michaela's book: Conflict Resolution

I'm posting the cover and first 2 pages of the book created by Michaela. The Theme is "Conflict Resolution." It is a beautiful book! I've been holding on to it for too long!

Jeminas entry into Stacy's

I took a stab at dot painting! For some reason aboriginal art was on the brain. I think because the theme journey makes me think of roaming and maps, two main subjects of aboriginal painting. There also is a strong tree theme developing in this book so I went with it -)

Ryan's Entry in Nora's Book

For this entry I sketched views from 3 significant places I've lived. Woodlake California where I grew up, Courtland California where my kids were born and raised until we moved to Adliswil Switzerland where we are living for the first time abroad.

Jeminas entry into Ryan book

I played with collage this month. Well first, to follow he books theme, I went on a few different walks with my daughter and on each I made a sketch. Then I filled in the sketch with different collaging techniques.

Nyumbani Sketch

Here's another sketch coming out of Tanzania! I've collaged imagery from a few places that represent my home.

In Nora's Sketchbook I started with sketching a hex sign (Pennsylvania Dutch Folk Art including the Distelfink Birds that represent happiness and good fortune.) In the background I've included Lancaster County farmland from my youth in Pennsylvania, and to the right is the view from my home in the British Virgin Islands (where I lived for 3 years--- my first home with my husband.)
In the foreground I've included scenes from Tanzania.

All media went on super smoothly and the background imagery/texture was inspiring! Great idea, Nora!

Cheers!

D.I.Y

Hi all!  Here is my book/folder.  My theme is D.I.Y.  I made the cover of the book from Duct tape, I decided to weave it as that fits in with my drill which I embroidered on hand made paper.  I will leave the rest up to your own interpretation.  Hope you get inspired.
